“Brought [son] out to mixing with other children.”
My son found this class very interesting, great interest in playing chess at home with family members and friends etc... Really brought him out to mixing with other children also.

“Great Extracurricular Activity”
I highly recommend the chess club. My two boys attend and they thoroughly enjoy it. The club provides a fun and challenging environment that keeps them engaged and excited about learning chess. The instructor's dedication and passion for teaching are evident, and I would recommend the club to any parent looking for a great extracurricular activity for their children.

CheckMates has been providing after-school chess clubs to primary schools since 2021. Over 550 students are learning chess through our programmes which are led by knowledgeable instructors.
Each lesson is led with the intention of not only teaching children how to play chess, but also to provide an environment in which children can express their competitive nature and advance their independent decision making skills thus building their self-confidence and sense of personal agency.

The way that lessons are formatted are typically a 50/50 split between learning and playing, where the group is split into two by ability and spends half of the lesson learning and the other half playing, with other children at a similar skill level. This keeps clubs primarily educational, but also fun for children.

Inter-school tournaments are organised regionally in order for children to have an opportunity to not only test their newly learned skills, but also for them to meet other children from our growing community of junior chess players.

We are working on, and will soon be running our clubs entirely through our application through which parents will avail of free content such as weekly puzzles, videos and more, and also be able to communicate directly with instructors so they can be on top of their children's in-class experience.
